Q1

Why did you join Barrage, and what has kept you here?

Before Barrage, I lived in Zagreb, but after talking with a college friend who has been working in Barrage for a while, I decided to give it a chance since my goal was to move back to Osijek. So I sent an application and got the job, which turned out to be a pretty good decision.

The reason I’ve stayed is because of the great team who is always willing to leave everything behind to pull a stunt on another team member. Also, the projects are interesting and my knowledge has been growing exponentially since I’ve joined the team.

In short, if I had to describe Barrage, it would definitely be dedication, thirst for knowledge and perseverance and that’s why I stayed here.

Q2

Before working at Barrage, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Well, the best stories definitely come from the time I was a technical support agent at Hrvatski Telekom, where you could learn so much about dealing with people (customers).

There were plenty of funny stories: for instance, a man called me to report the damage on a telephone pole, and I was dying from laughter from the moment I picked up the phone. He wanted to let us know that the pole was damaged so much by some village cows.

They were scratching themselves against that post and brought it down.

Q3

What are your hopes for our industry?

IT is and will continue to be one of the biggest industries in the world. There is not a single industry in the world where  IT doesn’t play some part. However, what truly amazes me is the pace at which everything is evolving.

For instance, when I was a kid, I remember getting my first dial-up internet connection. Now we have optic fibers around 20 years later, and we can barely compare those two technologies because they seem like they were eons apart.

Q4

If you could pick one theme for Barrage to turn into a book about the company, what would it be?

Lambing, for sure. For those unfamiliar with the phrase, it originated from Barrage as a combination of ’lamb’ (delicious sweet animal) and ’phishing’ (a type of social engineering attack).

In reality, it's a gimmick towards a colleague whose laptop or PC was left unlocked and it has an entertaining purpose. However, seeing as we are enforcing tight security, this can be considered an excellent everyday practice.

So, once the target, the owner of the unlocked and unsupervised workstation, leaves the workplace, the fun begins. Someone who spots a workstation like that will go and write something along the lines of “Tomorrow’s lunch is the roasted lamb for the entire company, on me” from our official communication channel on the general chat where everyone from our company can see it.

Q5

Do you have any hobbies, go-to weekend activities, or long-term passion projects you’re working on?

First and foremost, I am a very passionate gamer and this is due to my competitiveness; I like to play, and I want to win.

During the week, I’m mostly enjoying spending time with my girlfriend watching Netflix or doing some other activity.

Over the weekends, I like to go out with guys on ATV rides at forests in Osijek, especially if there was heavy rain the day before.

Last but not least, I like to cook for myself and others either on the barbecue or in the kitchen, simply because food is love, food is life.

Q6

How do you define success in life?

This one is a tricky question since success doesn’t mean the same for everyone, but my definition would be something like: as long as you strive for improvement and are satisfied with the result, you have achieved some kind of success in life.

Of course, that particular goal will differ for every one of us, and one’s goal might be just the first step towards another person’s goal, but that is the beauty of life.

Everyone has different wishes, expectations, needs, and backgrounds, which can either help or hinder them in accomplishing their goal.

Q7

What did you want to be when you grow up?

Ever since I got my first PC when I was around four years old, I fell in love with computers, technology, and everything involved.

Back then, I knew that I would enroll in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technologies in Osijek and continue somewhere in that direction.

Q8

If you could be anyone from any period in time, who would it be and why?

I am amazed by ancient civilizations and their ability to plan complex concepts and execute them almost flawlessly with the technology they had at the time (at least what we know of).

There are lots of mysteries regarding that, and I'm curious to find some kind of answer. So to answer the question, I would be a contemporary of ancient Egyptian, Mayan, Incan, or other old civilizations.

Q9

If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?

Juicy steak with roasted veggies and caramelized onions, Caprese salad on the side, an entire roasted lamb, and last but not least is a light cake with soft biscuit, pudding, and strawberries. You got to go out with a bang, right?

Q10

What is one thing you cannot resist? Is there any unique thing that others may not know about you?

I definitely can't resist lamb, cheeseburgers, and a good game. Something that others may not know about me is that I enjoy cooking and eating, and that brings a unique feeling of satisfaction.

Q11

Which one would you want most - flying cars, robot housekeepers, or moon cities?

It’s a close battle between robot housekeepers and moon cities, but I guess I would choose moon cities since space trips and lower gravity do sound tempting.

Q12

What is on your bucket list?

To name a few: visit Japan, pilot an airplane, jump with a parachute, drive a Formula 1 car, etc.
