The Geek Gathering 2023 is here, and it's bigger, better, and geekier than ever!
As we look forward to this year's event, let's delve into what makes this not-your-typical-conference a must-attend event for tech enthusiasts and geeks from this region.
What can you expect this year?
Although last year's The Geek Gathering was the first such gathering after 10 years, we can say that the conference was successful and that with the return of the TGG brand, we revived the enthusiasm and desire for this type of gathering in eastern Croatia.
We had no idea how quickly the time until the next The Geek Gathering would pass and that this year we would welcome a much larger number of people interested in the event itself (although we secretly hoped so).
We started preparations 9 months ago, and the good energy spread through the team; we believe that we made this year's TGG better, more interesting, stronger, and greater than last year's.
Time
Traditionally, we leave the first Thursday and Friday of October for a geek get-together, which means the 5th and 6th of October 2023.
Location
Just like the last year, we want to revive the center of the city of Osijek and for this reason, we have not changed the location and will see you again at the Cinema Urania, City and University Library in Osijek, and Trica Caffe Bar.
The geeks will mingle again at Cinema Urania, attending new lectures!
DAY 0
Panel TGG x CroAI Association: “Osijek’s future with AI”
First, I'd like to highlight our fruitful collaboration with the CroAI Association. Throughout the year, they were by our side during our Zagreb meetups, actively promoting our work in the Croatian capital. Now, as we move forward, it's time to bring them to Osijek.
Panel participants will be representatives of the city of Osijek, Carnet, and co-owner of Barrage - Ivan Rimac.
Collectively, we will endeavor to address the question of Osijek's future in the realm of artificial intelligence and its developmental prospects in this direction.
DAY 1 - Pre-gathering day
Inspirational talks and party
We are starting the traditional pre-gathering at Trica Caffe Bar, where everyone can listen to inspiring lectures by renowned individuals from Croatia and worldwide.
Some of them are lecturers at major prestigious universities worldwide, while others are founders of large companies with a bright future.
After the inspiring lectures, the part everyone is waiting for will begin - the party! This year, we are excited to offer our visitors the opportunity to explore the newly renovated Tvrđa and venture beyond the city center. That said, the official party will be held at Merlon, where everyone present can socialize and create unforgettable memories in a relaxed atmosphere.
We had many attendees asking a lot of insightful questions last year.
DAY 2 - Anti-conference day
Geeks on the Big Screen, masterclasses, and talks
The second day offers over 25 lectures and five masterclasses (workshops) at the three locations we mentioned earlier. You can attend lectures from some of the most prominent names in the domestic IT scene as a part of the "Geeks on the Big Screen” in cinema Urania.
Some of those names are - Josip Stuhli (Sofascore), Merlin Rebrović (Google), Dorija Humski (Google), and many more.
In addition to the lectures, day two will feature masterclasses or workshops, catering to those with a keen appetite for hands-on learning, allowing them to delve into their chosen areas of interest. All those thought-provoking lectures and engaging discussions will undoubtedly yield valuable insights, enriching the knowledge of all participants.
Make sure you check all masterclasses, to find the ones you fancy- just remember that registration is required due to limited seating capacity!
During the second day, there will be many other activities for visitors to enjoy - at the lounge area, we will offer free food and drinks - cocktails, beer, energy drinks, and water, while the DJ will continuously spin tracks to keep the ambiance soothing and everyone relaxed.
All visitors will receive a goodie bag containing a T-shirt, stickers, and rakija.
We decided to spice it up a bit this year with this special activity: Every visitor will also have the opportunity to create a custom T-shirt that will be printed on-site and then taken home as a souvenir.
